DIGITAL STILL PHOTOGRAPHY
                                 1

Find and watch a Ken Burns documentary or other photography-based
documentary. In a short paper, talk a bit about what images were used
and how they helped bring meaning to the piece. Also, deconstruct
the use of still pictures in part of a Burns documentary. How were the
photographs used to tell a story? What did the producers and editors
do to augment the images? What about the photographs made them
                                  valuable?

Find an event that is happening in your area and photograph it. Make
copies of your images and conduct a storyboarding or “throw down”
with them. When you’ve selected the images you think tell the story
best, sketch out a plan as to how they would be displayed in a news-
paper, magazine, and on the Web. Also, write a short paper that

                                  this result.
