said, they would similarly not hire anyone who could not “slide across
media.” The Tribune Company’s Howard Tyner believes that journal-
ism’s future lies in the area of multimedia, and “we need to embrace
it” (2004). Technology will continue to produce innovations that con-
sumers like, and editorial managers have to learn to deal with change.
In terms of multimedia, he said, journalists needed to jump on the
bandwagon “in a smart way before somebody else does it and has us
for lunch in the process.”
