APPENDIX C
SI Units
Conversion Table
A.1 How to Read This Table
The table provides conversion factors to SI units. These factors can be
considered as unity multipliers. For example,
Length: m/X
0.0254 in 0.3048 ft
Means that
1 = 0.0254 (m/in) or 1 in = 0.0254 m
1 = 0.3048 m/ft or 1 ft = 0.3048 m
The SI units are listed immediately after the quantity; in this case:
Length: m/X. The m stands for meter, and the X designates the non-
SI units for the same quantity. These non-SI units follow the numerical
conversion factors.
NOTE: In the following table at all locations, ton refers to U.S. Customary (2000 lb)
rather than metric ton (1000 Kg).
