hole opener, which has a set of cutters mounted outside a short drill collar
(fig. 3–16). Below the hole opener is placed a tool called a bullnose, which
is like a short drill collar with a rounded nose and a hole in the end for mud
to exit. The bullnose guides the hole opener along the original hole and
minimizes the chances of cutting another hole.
