system. This new kind of software package reduces its
business ascendancy and raises its technical responsibility
(see Figure 3.1).

The software vendors must rethink their value
proposition by marketing intangible asset stocks. That is to
say, a reference and master data stock, in the form of data
models and an off-the-shelf implementation in an enterprise
MDM solution. Similarly, they would be better off proposing
stocks of business rules and processes immediately
operational in the rules and process repositories tools.

The innovative software vendors are orientated towards
the commercialization of intangible IS assets rather than the
sale of integrated solutions that no longer meet IT system
transparency needs.
