USING THE ANALYSIS TOOLPACK ADD-INS 11
If you cannot find an add-in with the functionality you need to
perform the desired task, you can create your own. You can save any
workbook as an add-in. When you do so, Excel only uses the macros
in the workbook to create the add-in file. Any other elements of the
workbook are unusable as part of the add-in. Therefore, you should
only consider creating add-ins from workbooks that contain macros.
If you want to share macros with other users, creating an add-in is a
good way to do so, This hides the VBA code that created the macros
so that users cannot view or modify it.
To save a workbook as an add-in, click File ➪ Save As to display the
Save As dialog box. In the Save as type field, select the Microsoft
Excel Add-In option. Specify the add-in name and the location where
you want to save the add-in file. When you click Save, Excel creates
an add-in containing the macros and custom dialog boxes created in
the workbook.
If you want Excel to automatically list the add-in on the Add-Ins
dialog box, save the add-in in one of the default add-in locations.
