               CONCLUDING REMARKS

Carbon fiber fracture studies have been extremely valuable in defining the structure
of the different kinds of fibers, leading to an understanding of their performance
in particular applications. The high contrast obtained with carbon in TEM, and the
ability to image directly, without metal coating in SEM, have made these microscopies
particularly well suited for carbon fiber fracture studies.
