flexibility. The cotton thread with a 1:1 ratio was unable to be attracted to the magnet,
while the cotton thread with a 1:5 ratio can be attracted (Fig. 15.9). Evidently, the
concentration of Fe 3 O 4 NPs is too low for the cotton thread with a 1:1 ratio, which explains
why it cannot be attracted by the magnet. However, for an even stronger attraction toward
the magnet, ratios higher than 1:5 can be used to coat the cotton thread. This ability
promotes the application of these fibers in wearable devices and magnetic actuators.
