them. In order to achieve short-range communications among different network
elements for applications like monitoring and control, they are typically utilized
in indoor mediums. The common thing in all these networks is the SM that acts
as a GW to link these network schemes with other network stages and the util-
ities. Integration of premises network schemes into the SG communication
network is illustrated in Fig. 3.2.
