Soldering Wires
You’ll often need to splice a wire or solder a new wire onto an existing cable. You can get really
professional results quickly by using the third-hand tool and heat-shrink tubing. To start out,
strip about 1/4˝ from the ends of the two wires you want to solder together and place them in
the arms of the third-hand tool.
Tinning Wires
With the wires in the third-hand tool, tin each wire by putting the solder on one side of the
wire and the soldering iron on the other side and bring the two together to meet at the wire
(see Figure A-17). You just need a thin layer of solder, and it will be barely visible.
