However, since hardware keyboards are still supplied with computers and laptops, it is
important to understand the full range of keyboard adaptations, adjustments and options.
Also, hardware keyboards do have some advantages over on-screen keyboards for some
users and some tasks. For example:
• A hardware keyboard enables more information to be displayed on the device because
screen area is not used for an on-screen interface.
• Touch typing may be faster and more accurate on a hardware keyboard, which can be
particularly important for blind and visually impaired users.
