(not by predetermined volume) in order to apply the correct volume
of sample to the column.
hydroxyapatite A calcium hydroxyphosphate mineral used as a
highly specialized stationary phase for the separation of nucleic acids
and proteins.
hyphenated techniques Analyses that combine two or more
instrumental techniques to produce one analytical system. Examples
include GC-FID (gas chromatography-flame ionization detection) and
LC-MS-MS (liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry-mass spec-
trometry detection).
