5.2.2 Fabric spreading
At the beginning of the spreading process, a firm underlay paper ply is laid on the ta-
ble. The slippery surface of the paper ensures the easy transfer of the spread along the
table during the cutting process. Its firm structure eliminates deformation of the lowest
fabric plies during transportation (see Section 4.2.2).
The fabric spreading process is carried out by two workers at each side of the
spreading table who move the fabric ply to the beginning of a spread (see Fig. 5.4).
The end of the fabric ply is placed precisely at the beginning of the spread and secured
with some heavy object, for example, with a metal ruler (see Fig. 5.5). One worker
