the BSc Course in Applied Geology at Leicester University. A graduate of Liverpool University in
Physics and Geology he obtained a PhD at Queen’s University, Ontario and worked in Canada for
the Ontario Department of Mines spending much time investigating uranium and other mineral-
isation. In Europe he has carried out research on many aspects of mineralisation and industrial
mineralogy and is the editor and author of a number of books and papers in these fields. For a
number of years he was Vice-President of the International Society for Geology Applied to Mineral
Deposits.
