1.7 PROCESSING/STRUCTURE/PROPERTIES/
PERFORMANCE CORRELATIONS
As mentioned previously (Section 1.2), the science and engineering of materials in-
volves four interrelated components: processing, structure, properties, and perform-
ance (Figure 1.1). Inasmuch as the remainder of this text discusses these components
