as free! Thus, we will pay a flat rate for unlimited use of the band-
width. Flat rate pricing will encourage us to generate more data, or
at least stop constraining our data transmissions because of the cost.
Instead of deliberately waiting for some magic formula to fall in
place, the carriers will likely orchestrate an on-demand dial-up
arrangement by the wavelength of 2.4, 10, or 40 Gbps, depending on
the need.This, of course, will make it far more attractive for the com-
munity to develop more applications that are less sensitive to band-
width and more sensitive to timing or throughput.
