the bandwidth will increase, and the ability to switch optically at the
local and the long-haul networks is a given. Several factors keep the
investments coming. These will see the growth in the Internet, the
new killer applications (whatever they may be), and the multiservice
provisioning by the carriers. Figure 10-26 is a graph of the invest-

ments market by the three areas described. This is a summary for
the coming future where the vendors will keep their investments
strong.
No slowdown will take place in the delivery of the provisioning of
the optical networking components, fibers, and switching systems for
the near future. This is what makes the industry so exciting. What
are you waiting for? You must get your stake in this market and
deploy the bandwidth in order to remain competitive in the market.
