field is standard.
In exceptional cases where either orders must often be released prematurely for
some reason or the requirement for the different components of an assembly is staggered
over a long assembly lead time, the allocated quantities would be time-phased; that is, a
separate row of time buckets would be maintained. An example of this is shown in Figure
9-2. Note, in this example, that the use of a single allocation field would distort the com-
ponent item’s projected on-hand schedule (Figure 9-2B), which would then show 15 in
