The advantages of the random packings are easy production using
highly effective technology and easy dumping in the column. Their great
disadvantages are poor distribution of the phases over the cross-section of the
apparatus in comparison to the structured packings and often higher pressure
drop. The geometrical characteristics of some of these packmgs are presented in
Table 1.
