                                            1.3.5 Identifying and reducing hazards

Working in a motor vehicle workshop is a dangerous occupation, if you do not
take care. The most important thing is to be aware of the hazards and then it
is easy to avoid the danger. The hazards in a workshop are from two particular
                                        sources: you and your surroundings.
Hazards due to you may be caused by:
carelessness – particularly while moving vehicles
                                        ●
drinking or taking drugs – badly affects your ability to react to dangerous
                                        ●
                                          situations
tiredness or sickness – affects your ability to think and work safely
                                        ●
messing about – most accidents are caused by people fooling about
                                        ●
not using safety equipment – you have a duty to yourself and others to use

The surroundings in which you work may have:
                                                  bad ventilation
                                        ●
