and support staff. I am currently in the process of looking for a
new job, but while I am still here, I will gladly put my two cents
in about how I feel about working here, because others should be
warned as well.”
: “I feel this organization cares nothing about its employees. Their
only concern is making the numbers right. Management has their
noses in the air and acts as if they are too good for the employees
below them.”
Leaders Consumed by Self-Interest to the
Detriment of Larger Team Interests
Employee comments indicate that the employees are not just con-
cerned that senior leaders are paid so much more, but that many
senior leaders seem to be preoccupied with their own narrow in-
terests at the expense of focusing on the overall well-being of the
company and all employees. The following comments illustrate that
perception:
: “Senior management and the board of directors do not care about
the workers, only about their stock options.”
: “The executive team is simply interested in their own lifestyles.
They are not interested (by action) in growing a talent pool and
growing the business (although they speak like it).”
: “This formerly creative company is currently characterized by
poor leadership exceeded only by its dedication to short-term self-
enrichment at the expense of a valuable customer and client base.”
: “The primary missing ingredient that leads to the root of all sins
is that the top executives (President, CFO, and select few) are so
overcompensated that they have no reason to try to change the or-
ganization or to be forward thinking. They operate in self-directed
interests that serve only themselves to the disadvantage of ordinary
employees and the shareholders.”
