health and well-being. . . . Employees at organizations with high
engagement reported better physical health, lower job stress and
work overload, and greater financial security. In addition, they also
believe that their employer’s benefits plan contributes to their over-
all well-being, although there is room for improvement with re-
spect to retirement savings programs. 1

Our analysis of the anecdotal comments shows an expanded defi-
nition of benefits, a broader characterization that goes beyond health
care and retirement. Employees and employers alike now talk about
“work-life balance,” a term less known in the business world 20 years
ago, but now accepted more widely as something an employer must
consider when thinking about this engagement driver, especially for
        younger workers.
