ABOUT THE AUTHORS





        Leigh Branham is principal and founder of Keeping the People, Inc.,
        in Overland Park, Kansas. His firm helps clients analyze root causes
        of employee disengagement and turnover and implement strategies to
        grow revenues and profits by becoming better places to work.
           His book, The 7 Hidden Reasons Employees Leave: How to Recog-
        nize the Subtle Signs and Act Before It’s Too Late, was selected as one of
        the top 30 business books of 2005. He is also the author of Keeping the
        People Who Keep You in Business (AMACOM, 2000).
           Leigh has consulted with multinational companies and has spo-
        ken at human resources and leadership conferences in China, Poland,
        Argentina, Paraguay, Canada, and Malaysia. He has been interviewed
        on National Public Radio and has been widely quoted as an expert on
        employee retention in BusinessWeek, The Harvard Management Update,
        and by the Associated Press. He publishes a quarterly free subscrip-

        Mark Hirschfeld is principal, SilverStone Group Inc. of Omaha, Ne-
        braska. He has been actively involved in organizational development
        consulting for over 20 years. In his tenure with SilverStone Group, as
        well as serving as a vice president for the management consulting divi-
        sion of the Gallup Organization, Mark has assisted in the design and
        execution of human capital solutions for many growing companies.
           Mark has written many articles on career management, leader-
        ship effectiveness, employee survey design and administration, and best
        practices of winning Best-Places-to-Work employers. He has conducted
        extensive research on winning companies that participate in the Best-
        Places-to-Work program in the United States, and his consulting activities
        include work in Australia and Canada, as well as a one-year assignment
        in the United Kingdom.
