            Piston  rods  incorporate  diameter,  length, material,  composition,  and
          fastening  arrangements  as  dictated  by  both  the  operating  conditions  of
          the compressor and the design of the piston to which they are connected.
          Several different  piston rods are shown in Figures 2-21 through 2-23.

          Types  of Piston Rods

            Configurations  vary with cylinder design.
            Single Piston  Rod. This is  the most common type. It contains a sin-
          gle piston.
