Multi-Bolt. In this arrangement (see Figure 2-20) the piston rod is
made with a flange at the piston end, which is drilled and tapped to
accept studs. The piston is drilled to allow studs to pass through and
locked to the rod with nuts. This arrangement has the advantage of allow-
ing removal of the piston from the cylinder without having to unscrew
the piston rod from the crosshead.

PISTON RODS
Like other components in the modern reciprocating compressor, the
piston rod is designed for specific applications such as
• Operating pressures
• Gas composition
