Pipeline Inspection Chapter

           and Maintenance 2

           Abstract
In this chapter, first, different failure modes which need to be considered in reliability
and integrity assessment of pipelines will be discussed considering their causes.
Common formulations for failure modes (limit state functions) will be presented for
some types of pipes. This can give an idea to inspection engineers about the data
which need to be monitored during their inspections for a more accurate reliability
           analysis.
Afterwards in Section 2.3, common methods for pipeline inspection will be
introduced and the pros and cons of each technique and their application will be
           discussed and compared.
Lastly, pipeline maintenance methods to prevent pipelines from deterioration and to
extend their service lives will be explained.
