machine’s lubrication system. Using this technique, a trained analyst can determine the
type of wear and its most probable cause. In most cases, this analysis requires the use of
an outside laboratoq, with costs ranging from about $25 to $50 per sample. However,
the knowledge gained from this test is extremely valuable to the RCFA process.
