About the Author

Phillip C. Wankat is the Clifton L. Lovell Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering and the
Director of Undergraduate Degree Programs in the Department of Engineering Education at Purdue
University. He has been involved in research and teaching of separations for more than forty years and is
very interested in improving teaching and learning in engineering. He is the author of two books on how to
teach and three books on separation processes. He has received a number of national research awards as
well as local and national teaching awards.
