                                  CAN WE MEASURE

                                              INTEGRITY?

he concept of a servant-leader is a fascinating one.
Many great people have exemplifi ed this form.
TDespite their diversity, they had one thing in com-
mon: through their behavior they displayed a profound
             integrity.
                 Socrates explained during his trial:

I only go about telling you all, young and old, not
to concern yourselves with your persons and your
properties, but to think chiefl y of the greatest
good of the soul [psyche]. I teach that virtue is not
given by money, but that from virtue there comes
money and many other good things in life, public
and private. If that is the doctrine that corrupts
the youth, then my infl uence is ruinous indeed!
But I know that I will not change my ways—not
if I have to die many times. 1

“I am the king’s good servant,” insisted Sir Thomas More,
“and if that is not enough to keep a man alive I long not to
             live.” 2
