dirty and costly diesel generators remain the best solution for primary and
backup electrical generation. We know that the affordability of fossil fuels
comes at a heavy cost to the environment. The extraction of natural gas leads
to fracking. Transportation releases methane that significantly traps more heat
than CO 2 . Current renewables are not good enough. Typical solar produces
power 4e6 h a day at best, and typical wind, 8e10 h per day. Photovoltaic and
concentrated solar or farms require large areas, are usually away from urban
areas where power is needed, threaten wildlife, and lack inertial stability to
support the grid. In Tahiti, mountainous islands, often forested and wet,
develop daytime cloud cover linked to forest evaporation, and the southern
¸
flanks are badly oriented to the sun’s path (Hourcourigaray et al., 2014).
THE SOLUTION
ECO-GEN Energy developed the exclusive, advanced technology to produce
clean, green, energy with the patented and Underwriters Laboratories-tested
JouleBox Hybrid Generator that is more efficient than anything else on the
market today. The JouleBox has a UCC Manufacturer’s Component Warranty
and Performance Guarantee from Lloyds of London. Using different and
proven technologies, in tandem, the developers were able to secure a new
intellectual property (IP). Our development partners, Green Power Partners,
with a power purchase agreement (PPA), are creating local jobs as well.
The JouleBox makes electricity from solar, turbines, hydraulics, lithium
ion battery bricks, high-efficiency switched reluctance motors and generators,
and N50 neodymium permanent magnets. Each JouleBox has its own IP sat-
ellite address and can be remotely and continuously monitored for 45 different
components. If a unit goes out, it could be replaced within an hour with a
simple plug-n-play swapping of the unit.
