The Least You Need to Know

➤ Curriculum vitae is the term used in academic and scientific communities for resume.
➤ CVs are usually longer than two pages (and may be as long as 20 pages) and fre-
quently don’t include a Job Objective section.
➤ You can use either a chronological, functional, achievement, chronological hybrid,
or functional hybrid format, but keep it conservative in presentation and language
for most uses.

➤ A large part of your CV should be laundry-list sections such as Publications, Awards
and Honors, and Presentations.

➤ Be sure to number all pages and include “Continued” at the bottom of all but the
last page.
