PUTTING YOUR BRAIN TO WORK: ACTIVITY
What programs do you currently present that could benefit from the use of a board or card game?

How can games be incorporated into your programs to add excitement while reinforcing content?

What card games can you think of that you might adapt and adopt for your training?

What board games can you think of to add pizzazz to your sessions?

                    Magic Tricks
Using money, cards, scarves, string, ribbon, or a variety of other items in magic tricks are
excellent ways to attract attention and help sharpen mental skills for you and your learn-
ers. There are hundreds of books teaching simple magic tricks that can be used in train-
ing sessions (see Creative Presentation Resources in the Resources for Trainers in the ap-
pendices). Magic takes participants back to their childhood where they were often
spellbound at magic shows trying to figure out how the tricks were done. For a few dol-
lars and a couple hours of invested time you can perfect simple tricks and activities that
will mesmerize learners as you gain and hold their attention, then tie the activity into
                                session concepts.
