parking passes may be available for all carpools or vanpools as previously noted and
provisions for this verified in the submittal.
LEED 2009 Case 2 Option 1 Case 2 Option 1 of credit SSc4.4 is for residential uses
and mandates not exceeding the local zoning parking requirements and also
promoting programs to reduce SOV use such as ride sharing. The submittal should
include the verbiage of the applicable zoning code and the supporting calculations
to determine the minimum parking required by local zoning code. This credit
mandates that the maximum total parking provided (TP) equal the minimum as set
by the local code and not greater, whether the local code has a different maximum
parking calculation or not. (As mentioned previously, there are two alternatives
given for determining the total parking allowed [TP] if parking is not addressed by
local zoning for LEED 2.2, but not required in the LEED 2009 calculations.) The
submittal should also provide a description of the infrastructure and the programs
that are in place or going to be provided to not just promote, but also support ride
sharing for the residents.
LEED 2009 Case 3 Case 3 is for mixed uses and follows the applicable cases for
either nonresidential or residential uses for the respective portions of the building. If
there are less than 10% commercial or retail areas in an otherwise residential facility,
then the entire facility adheres to the residential case (2).
All Cases Case 1 Option 3, or Case 2 Option 2, or Case 3 Option 2 of credit SSc4.4
mandate that no new parking be provided. The submittal should include the previously
existing site parking plan and the new parking plan indicating the total parking (TP)
provided on each.
Special Circumstances and Exemplary Performance
If there are special circumstances or nonstandard compliance paths taken for either of
the options, a narrative must be submitted describing these circumstances. There is not
an exemplary performance point tied individually to SSc4.4; however, there is an overall
point that can be earned for a transportation plan as previously mentioned. If there are
special circumstances or nonstandard compliance paths taken for either of the options,
a narrative must be submitted describing these circumstances.
2.5 SS Credit Subcategory 5: Site Development
SS Credit 5.1: Site Development—Protect or Restore Habitat
The intent of this credit is to maintain as much of the native or adapted biological
species as possible in a region and to also protect other natural site elements, including
water bodies, rock outcroppings, soil conditions, and other ecosystem features. There
are many reasons for this. Obviously, native and adapted species would survive well in
the local climate without much additional irrigation and maintenance. There is also the
desire for biodiversity in this world. Maintaining native vegetation in all regions is
important both for plant biodiversity and for the local fauna to survive. It is also
desirable to maintain habitat for many biologically diverse organisms, not just for
ecological reasons, but also because it has been found that a world with rich biodiversity
