SS Credit 5.2: Site Development—Maximize Open Space
             USGBC Rating System
SSc5.2 is worth one point in LEED 2009 and one point in LEED 2.2. LEED-NC 2.2 lists
the Intent, Requirements, and Potential Technologies and Strategies for this credit as
follows and is similar to LEED 2009 with modifications as noted:
                Intent
Provide a high ratio of open space to development footprint to promote biodiversity.
                Requirements
                LEED 2009 CASE 1:
Reduce the development footprint (defined as the total area of the building footprint,
hardscape, access roads and parking) and/or provide vegetated open space within the
project boundary to exceed the local zoning’s open-space requirement for the site by 25%.
