Asking clients to boost their volume “short of a shout” is about
as far as I am willing to go on the subject of projection. Someone
without any real speaking history, stage experience, or theater train-
ing can only sound inadequate or unnatural when trying to project
his or her voice with too much gusto. So if you find yourself in a big
room with a lot of people and no microphone, don’t overdo it.
