Chapter 6 The Palm Robot Programmer (PRP) 153
Finally, the PRP loads the style sheet every time you translate a program.
That means that if you need to debug your style sheet, you do not need to re-
start the PRP. Simply make the change to the style sheet, and the PRP will load
the new style sheet when you next translate a program into source code.
Updates to the PRP
We all know that software changes and improves over time. (Sometimes soft-
ware changes and gets worse, but that’s another story.) We expect the same
thing (improvements, not problems) to happen with the PRP. The CD-ROM
that comes with this book has the version of the PRP as it existed when the
book was published. However, you may be reading this book years later, after
James Cameron has optioned it for a major motion picture and Anne Rice has
written, “A real page turner—you’ve got to read this one for yourself.”
Or, you may have lost the CD-ROM to this book.
You will always be able to find the latest version of the PRP by checking our
web sites:
❏ Dave’s web site is www.bydavejohnson.com.
❏ Kevin’s web page is home.earthlink.net/~kmukhar.
Where to Go from Here
If you’re a code slinger, we’ve been promising that we’d show you how to
write your own code for the PPRK. You actually got a little bit of that here. But
it gets better in the next chapter, where we show you how to write code for the
SV203 controller, which is used in the original PPRK. We’ll show you how to
write code in BASIC and C, how to download that code to a PDA, and how to
use that code to control the robot.
In Chapter 8, we’ll show you how to write code for the BrainStem controller
using the TEA language. In addition, we’ll look at writing Java programs for
the BrainStem. Finally, we’ll show you how to download TEAor Java code to a
PDA and how to use it to control the BrainStem.
