11. Influence of many levels of government at the city, state, and federal levels, and
special interest groups, such as local community boards, landmarks preservation,
local neighborhood business associations, Metropolitan Transportation Authority,
Metro North, Long Island Railroad, Port Authority, etc.
12. Millions of tourists visit the city each year, and the city wants to keep traffic flow-
ing and the city looking pristine, especially during the holiday period from
Thanksgiving to New Year’s.
As it is often said, “If you as the CM/GC can figure out how to build in New York City,
you can build anywhere.” The techniques used to construct a building in New York City
are applicable to any major city in the United States and the world.
