omi Bhabha

The black British academic Homi Bhabha uses psychoanalysis
to read the historical phenomenon of colonialism. The discourse
of colonialism, argues Bhabha, has an inner psychological
tension that ensures that the relationship between the colonial
and the colonizinq subjects is always ambivalent.

Thus the very nature of the colonial power undermines its own
authority and paradoxically can provide the means for native
                resistance.
