Theory
Queerness has been
defined as "a quality
related to any
expression that can
be marked as
contra-, non-,
or anti-
straight".
Queer theory
completes the circle,
finishing the process
that the sociologist
Max Weber (1864-
1920) called the
"disenchantment of
social life".
Desire and sexuality become as central as race, gender, or class
- and all symptomatic of basic social and cultural processes.
Homophobia becomes as ugly as racism or class hatreds.
