           Vera M. Kolb received a Chemical Engineering degree and an MS in Chemistry
           from Belgrade University. She pursued her chemistry studies as a Fulbright scholar,
           and has received her PhD from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She
           is currently Professor of Chemistry and Director of the Center for Environmental
           Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. She had two sabbatical leaves, at
           the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, and at Northwestern University. As of 2016,
           she has over 150 publications, including three books and three patents, in the fields
           such as organic reactions mechanisms, chemistry of opiates and estrogens, organic
           reactions in water and in the solid state, chemistry under prebiotic conditions, astro-
           biology, green chemistry, and chemical education. In 2002 she was inducted in the
           Southeastern Wisconsin Educators’ Hall of Fame, and in 2013 she has received Phi
           Delta Kappa Outstanding Educator Award.
