Acknowledgements
First and foremost, I would like to thank God for giving me the skills, knowledge,
and abilities to achieve anything that I set my mind to do.
This book is the outcome of a remarkable contribution of experts from various
interdisciplinary fields of science and covers the most comprehensive, in-depth, and
up-to-date research and reviews. I am thankful to all the contributing authors and
their co-authors for their esteemed work. I would like to express my gratitude to all
the authors, publishers, and other researchers for granting us the copyright permis-
sions to use their illustrations.
I would like to thank the CRC Press and Taylor & Francis Group for giving me
the opportunity to edit this book. Special thanks go to Hilary LaFoe and Natasha
Hallard, who provided me with editorial assistance and support. Without their
patience, this book would not have been possible.
I express my deep gratitude to Prof. Zeid A. ALOthman (Chairman, Department
of Chemistry, College of Science, King Saud University, Saudi Arabia) for his valu-
able suggestions, guidance, and constant inspiration. I am feeling short of words
to express my thanks to all my friends and colleagues for their timely help, good
wishes, encouragement, and affection.
Above all, I want to thank my parents and all my family members, who supported
and encouraged me despite all the time it took me away from them. It was a long
and difficult journey for them. Last but not least, I beg forgiveness from all those
who have been with me over the course of the years and whose names I have failed
to mention.
Finally, I would like to extend my appreciation to the Deanship of Scientific
Research at King Saud University for the support.
