The plan and section of the example building is shown in Fig. 4.1. As can be
seen, the building has no lateral load-bearing element in both directions; how-
ever, under certain circumstances, the infill walls can be regarded as the load-
bearing system. Otherwise, the concentric braces are considered for retrofit of
the building (Fig. 4.2).
