Consider the generational structure shown in Fig. 5.7; all publications are
articles.
Using Fig. 5.7 we illustrate the difference between these definitions of
generations.
Description of the citation network:
Let A 5 {a,b} be the target set; articles b, c, and f cite article a; article
b moreover cites article c; articles d, e, and f cite article c; besides articles
a and c, article f also cites articles b and g; article g cites article b; and
finally, articles h, i, and j cite article f. We now describe the generations.
