Knowing Players from Fans
Since our initial meeting, I have made slight modifi-
cations to the model to serve my own leadership needs.
Even so, Dr. Jones discovered a model that is simple to
grasp, universal in application, and strikingly accurate.
The model begins with a vision of who you are and
a mission of what you want to achieve; this is true of
all meaningful endeavors, personal and professional.
In culture-driven, people-centered organizations, val-
ues serve as a litmus test for a leader’s vision. If the
vision violates or compromises those values, failure is
likely. On the other hand, if the vision is aligned with
the values, success is likely because goals and strate-

gies bring about favorable results. =
