ADIPONITRILE
Adiponitrile is made by two different methods. One method is by the elec-
trohydrodimerization of acrylonitrile. It is converted into hexamethyl-
enediamine (HMDA) that is used to make nylon.

In the electrodimerization of acrylonitrile, a two-phase system containing
a phase transfer catalyst tetrabutylammonium tosylate is used.
