the meantime, I was waiting with baited breath and was sur-
prised when he called me a few hours after I had deposited my
manuscript on his desk and enthusiastically told me, “You are
a writer—your voice leaps right off the page!” It was then that I
began to think that I could write. I was twenty-nine at that time,
and my first book was Coach Yourself to Success, which went
on to be published by Contemporary Books (now McGraw-Hill)
and sell more than one hundred thousand copies around the
world, was translated into seven foreign languages, and is still
in print today ten years later. Not bad for the gal who can’t spell

Now review everyone’s feedback and create a full list of your
strengths and innate talents. Is there a pattern? Does one
thing keep coming up from a variety of people? Is there a
thread that runs right through from childhood? That may be
your unique talent or innate ability.
