        • Some of the others act like an audience.
        • The observers make use of the observation forms below and then evaluate the
presentation. In advance the learning points of each presenter are asked. (What do you
want us to pay especial attention to?)

                             Exercise 16.1 Making a presentation
Choose in advance several members of the group to stage a presentation according to the
rules described in Chapter 16. The goal can be, for example, fundraising for an
association of which presenters are themselves members. Should any members of the
audience want to contribute money to the association after the presentation, the presenter
should be pleased. Think about things like Amnesty International, Nature Heritage,
World Wild Life Fund, local foundations for the preserving of specific natural habitats or
cultural environments, or the sponsoring of a local athlete. The goal of the presentation
can also be to found a group within the school that will deal especially with the problems
        of the immediate environment.

                              Exercise 16.2 School presentation
Your high school is organizing a large party in celebration of its seventy-fifth
anniversary. You were fairly active on the school student board and have now been asked
to give a small presentation of 15 minutes, as an alumnus of the school, which should
review previous years. Make use of any additional attributes. The audience consists of
alumni, students, parents, teachers and former staff members and friends.

                          Observation form assessing expression skills
The observation form shown in Box A.1 lists the skills of the presenter that you have to
assess. Mark as follows either during or after the presentation:
        • if you find that the presenter is using the skill well=+
        • if you feel that the presenter is not using the skill too badly, but could still improve=±
        • if you feel that the presenter uses the skill inadequately or not at all=−
