I N TRODUCTION
The theme of business processes management underlies much of the discussion in this text. In this
chapter, we will explore tools, such as flowcharts and process chains, that can be used to describe
business processes. You will learn how these tools, which are not specific to ERP, can help
managers identify process elements that need to be improved. We will finish by studying the role
these process-modeling tools play in ERP implementation projects.
