               translated onto the V model. This activity can be time consuming if there is any debate or dissension
               regarding assignment of resources to stewards or other forms of accountability and responsibility.
                  The main technique here is the traditional RACI technique. RACI, of course, stands for Respon-
               sible, Accountable, Consult, and Inform.
               • ResponsibledGroup(s) or individual that performs or executes the work
               • AccountabledGroup that ensures the work is done and, of course, bears accountability
               • ConsultdGroup whose input is required before the work is done
               • InformdGroup to whom work is reported
               Each function or process is examineddthis usually means a discussion concerning each process.
               Typically, an elapsed time of two weeks is the average duration for the RACI development, but you
               will also need to accommodate the time required to develop the charters.

               Business Benefits and Ramifications

               Business ramifications are high in this activity. You are creating the framework within which gover-
               nance will work. While two weeks is the norm, there may be more time involved. It may take two
               weeks to do the first cut at the chart, but it may take another two to four weeks of walking it around to
               make sure you have support. Remember that there is a high potential for politics and resistance as the
               DG team gets closer to the reality of implementation.
