POWER MOVE 2:
           USE POSITIVE EXPECTATIONS TO PREDICT

           THE FUTURE.

et’s make it very clear: being positive doesn’t make you
L a pushover. It doesn’t mean being soft and sacrificing

results in an attempt to keep people happy. In fact, you
develop deep strengths in others by doing just the opposite,
that is, by expecting more of them.

The key ingredient in positive expectations is the emotional
tone you express toward the other person. Merely being
demanding doesn’t work. But if you create a positive connec-
tion, you can hold someone to a higher standard. The bond

lets you be more exacting and less tolerant of mediocrity.
